We have moved!

We are finally residents of Manor, Texas.

We closed on the house Tuesday at 3pm but we were told at closing that the seller of the house would not be signing his part of the documents until the following day so the house was not officially ours. We signed our part and headed for Laredo. On our way to Laredo Jeremy received a call from the driver of the truck that would be moving us and he wanted to verify all of the information for the upcoming days. For starters he had the Laredo address wrong as well as the Manor address. The person that provided him with information obviously did not do so well. He thought that he was taking the load to Maynard, Texas, rather than Manor. The truck driver was excited when he found out that it was really Manor because he lives in the Bastrop area so he would be able to spend a couple of nights at home.

Wednesday morning rolls around and the guys are at the Laredo house at 8am and ready to get started. They told us that they would spend the day packing, Thursday they would spend the day loading and Friday they would deliver our stuff in Manor. We really thought that there was no way that each day would be a full day but they proved us wrong. The "movers" consisted of only 2 guys and they were great. We visited the entire time they were packing things and Jeremy and I were sitting around watching them. Thursday Jeremy and I sat around and watched as they loaded and Friday we walked around and watched as they unloaded everything since we didn't have any furniture yet to sit on.

This move was definitely one for the books because we have never experienced something like this. We have always moved our own things with a lot of help from family and friends and this time we sat back and didn't do a thing. It was nice but at the same time, we felt very lazy because of watching them work. We asked if there was anything that we could do and they pretty much told us that the best thing is for us to just stay out of the way; so we did.

The end of the hotel stay!!

Tonight is our final night in this hotel. We have a lot to do this evening to get everything packed up and loaded in our vehicles so that we can check out of here tomorrow. Over the past weeks we have been bringing more and more in here and now it's time to carry it all out. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the closing will stand at 3pm tomorrow so that we can head to Laredo to meet the movers Wednesday morning. We will be without internet until the weekend when Time Warner can come to the new house and get things set up. Don't expect posts until then and I will try to get some pictures of the house uploaded real soon.

Closing has been scheduled!

We got word today that the closing on the house has been scheduled for Tuesday at 3pm. We are hoping that everything will go smoothly between now and then because the packing team will arrive at the Laredo house on Wednesday between 8am and 10am. We are really excited because we only have three nights left in the hotel. We are leaving tomorrow (Friday) to go to Brenham for the weekend so we won't be back until Sunday and we get to check out of here on Tuesday. Lot of fun things going on in the near future.

Happy Anniversary!!

This is just one of the silly pics that we ended up
with on our one year anniversary. My mom did a great job at wrapping the cake last year because it tasted wonderful on our one year anniversary!

we made it to our first anniversary

Happy Anniversary to us! We made it one year! I must say that it hasn't been a long year, just a difficult one since not living together until about three weeks ago. My mom told us last weekend that it's hard to believe that we have been living apart for so long and that is so true because while we were doing it, we didn't think anything of it, but looking back on it now...it's crazy that we were driving back and forth to see each other for nearly two years. We decided over the weekend that we would leave Laredo earlier Sunday afternoon so that we could get back to Austin in time to watch the Longhorns play in the College World Series. We were about 45 minutes into our trip and realized that Jeremy had forgotten his work clothes. They were all still hanging in the closet in Laredo so we had to turn around and go get those. Needless to say we didn't make it to Austin by 6.
We decided to not do much for our anniversary since we are about to be moving into the house and will be covering two house payments for a while. We actually have tickets to go see George Strait, Sugarland, Julianna Hough, and Blake Shelton in August so we are going to consider that our anniversary gift to each other as well as just finally living together. Our goal was to live together by our first anniversary and we made that goal by three weeks!
Hopefully this week will fly by so that we can close on the house next week and get everything moved in. We are so ready to be out of the hotel.

closer to closing

We are supposed to close on the house in a week and a half however we might not make our deadline. We knew after having the inspection completed on the house last week that there are two areas of the roof that need to be fixed. We figured that we would end up paying for that because the seller of the home is absolutely broke and the bank that has posession of the house is not willing to work with us at all as they are already taking a hit on the house. We learned today that the roof must be fixed before we can close on the house because the appraiser will not complete the job until that is done. So....the selling agent is going to cover the cost of those repairs (as of today) so that we can move forward with closing. Because of this issue, we might not be able to close on time as this may push everything back a day.
We are ready to get out of this hotel so we are hoping that everything will remain close to being on track. We are okay with things being pushed back one day but not much more than that because we already have the movers, cleaners and exterminator scheduled and we don't want to have to change all of those appts.

Inspection complete!

We had the inspection completed on the house today and everything looks good. There were two things noted, the roof and a switch in the sub panel. The roof has two places that need some shingles replaced. So we are working on that to determine who is going to have to pay for it since the bank is actually the ones we are dealing with since the previous homeowner is behind on his payments. Everything looks like we might be on schedule to close on June 22...keeping our fingers crossed since we have to give the moving company two weeks notice.

lot's of time has passed

It has been months since I have posted a blog but I would really like to get better at keeping up with this. I know that I enjoy being able to keep up with others this way so I know that I need to do better. There have been many changes that have taken place since I last posted a blog.
The first thing that happened was in January 2009. Jeremy and I purchased our first home. We decided that we would make Laredo home for a while since there didn't seem to be any way that he was getting out of there anytime soon. We found a house and decided to purchase it. We moved in with hopes that I would be finding a job down there really soon because we knew that we could not continue on forever with not living with each other.
Then something amazing happened....seven days after we closed on our house in Laredo there were 16 job openings for Jeremy. There had not been job openings in months and then all of a sudden there were 16 and one of them was Austin. We were so excited but knew that we could be let down just like we had several times before and in addition to all the other emotions, what would we do with our new house. Jeremy applied for the job in Austin as well as several others and weeks later...I mean weeks later, we finally got word that he received the promotion to the position in Austin.
He was told to report to Austin on May 26 so I started job searching in Austin. After completing applications and submitting resumes I was offered a different position with D&S in South Austin. After thinking everything over....mainly the $$...I decided to take the offer and I too would start full time on May 26 in the South Austin D&S office.
We put our house in Laredo on the market however as of today we have not had anyone interested in it. We have found a new house in the Manor area and we are scheduled to close on June 22.
You might wonder where we are living now. We are in an extended stay hotel. Jeremy's job will pay for us to be here for 30 nights so we are taking advantage of it until we can get into our house. This time around we also won't be moving our own things as that is something else that Jeremy's job pays for. When we first found out that we were moving I was so excited that I immediatly began packing things up; only to find out that the movers will be unpacking what I have packed and re-packing it. I am a little nervous about someone else handling all of my things but it will be really nice to leave everything in it's place until the moving team walks through the door. They will pack and load everything in the Laredo house and unpack everything at the new house, we just have to tell them which room we want it in. I will definitely keep you posted on that experience as this is something new to us.
I am going to do better about updating the blog so check back soon.
